Apprenticeship awards

Guy’s and St Thomas’ apprenticeships programme has been shortlisted for no fewer than three different awards.

Over the past five years there has been a 500% increase in the number of apprenticeships offered at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

And, most importantly, 66% of those who successfully completed apprenticeships in 2015/16 went on to be recruited to permanent jobs in the Trust.

The Trust is committed to investing £3 million in apprenticeships annually with an aim of having at least 300 apprentices by 2020.

The apprenticeships programme is shortlisted for:

  • The Healthcare Recruitment category of the Health Business Awards – winners to be announced on Thursday 29 November at an event hosted by The One Show GP, Dr Sarah Jarvis
  • The Training Journal Awards – winners will be announced on 6 December
  • The Learning Awards organised by the Learning & Performance Institute (LPI) – winners to be announced on Thursday 2 February 2017.

Courtney Sherwell, Education, Training and Development (ET&D) Associate, says: “Our apprenticeship schemes are a fantastic way to recruit and support young people with new skills and fresh perspectives. I am delighted that we have been shortlisted for these awards and I would like to thank all the Trust staff who have supported our apprentices over the last few years.”
