Coronavirus: continuing cardiac care update

We know that this is a concerning time for lots of people. We want you to know that we remain committed to providing you and your family the best, and safest, care possible.

We are changing how we work in the cardiovascular team so that we can continue providing the best care possible for current and new patients, both in and out of our hospital. These changes are designed to help keep everyone as safe as we can during this challenging time.

Please see our frequently asked questions for further details on changes we are making, and contact details for your clinical team.

For patients

If you are worried about your health or feel that you are getting worse, you may wish to call our advice line for cardiac rehabilitation patients on 020 7188 0946. This service is available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Please note that our phone lines are very busy and there may be a wait for your call to be answered.

The cardiovascular rehabilitation team is a multi-professional team who provide support for patients and their families throughout their experience of heart disease, both in the hospital and the community.

We aim to see all patients after a heart attack and all local patients after angioplasty, coronary artery by-pass grafts, heart valve surgery and ICD insertion (internal defibrillator).

Our inpatient visits include discussion and explanation around diagnosis and treatments, risk factor assessment and lifestyle advice, and recovery information.

We also offer a six-week, comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation programme. This is provided twice a week at St Thomas' Hospital on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
