Oral dermatology service

Care for patients with severe blistering in the mouth

Coronavirus: dermatology update

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, please read our advice and information.

About us

Our oral dermatology service provides specialist care for patients with severe mucocutaneous diseases. Mucocutaneous diseases are conditions that cause blistering in the mouth and include pemphigus, pemphigoid and lichen planus.

We also offer advice and treatment to patients with any oral medicine problem if referred by their GP or consultant.

Our service was set up 15 years ago and is expanding year on year. It forms part of the immunobullous service at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology.

We are led by Professor Jane Setterfield who is both a dermatologist and an oral medicine specialist.

The Guy's and St Thomas' Charity has provided funding for our current reseach on mucous membrane pemphigoid.
