OPAT and chronic infection clinic

We offer an outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) service (PDF 108Kb) that supports patients in the community who are receiving intravenous anti-microbial therapy. The OPAT service primarily facilitates early discharge from Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospitals for patients whose only barrier to discharge is the requirement for intravenous therapy. We also work closely with the Guy's and St Thomas' @home services in Lambeth and Southwark. Post discharge from hospital, patients receiving OPAT are reviewed in clinic on a weekly basis, usually Wednesday morning at Guy's. They are seen by both the OPAT specialist nurse and a doctor.
