Older person's physiotherapy

Providing high-quality care for older adults in the local area

Coronavirus: physiotherapy update

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, please read our advice and information before attending the service.

Physiotherapy in the older person’s assessment unit (OPAU) at Guy’s Hospital has been developed to provide high quality care for older adults in the local area. We see and treat a variety of conditions, including reduced function after a hospital stay, poor balance and reduced confidence. You will be assessed by a physiotherapist and provided with information about your condition and possible management options which may include:

  • advice and exercises, to complete with the physiotherapist and by yourself at home
  • one-to-one physiotherapy
  • exercise classes specific to your condition.

We aim to provide all patients with expert assessment, diagnosis and evidence based treatment plans, and believe it is important that we work together with you to produce a treatment plan that is meaningful to you and your lifestyle.

Our location in the older person’s assessment unit means that we are also able to access other healthcare professionals if further advice and support is needed.
