MedTap
MedTap is a free information app, developed by our cardiovascular team. It offers a wide range of information with short, informative videos on conditions and medicines. You can:
- watch videos on topics such as heart attacks, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure
- get answers to common medicine questions – when and how to take your pills, what to do when you have a side effect, how to reorder more pills
- watch dermatology videos
- access information from Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation
- record your medicines using the dedicated list function
- 'favourite' videos that are important to you, making it easy to find and watch them again
- set an alarm to sound at the time you need to take your medicine
- document your allergies

Videos
MedTap offers short videos from NHS staff on your medicines, in clear language, that you can access whenever you need.

Some patients forget to take their medicines or might not take them in the correct way.
This can result in you not getting the best benefit from them, or causing some harm.
There are some simple things you can do to help you to remember to take your medicines in the correct way.
Firstly, it is important you understand why you need to take a medicine and have agreed with a doctor, nurse or pharmacist this is something you are prepared to try.
To help you remember to take your medicines, it can be useful to build reminders into your daily routine.
So, if you take your medicines of the morning with food, try building into your routine that 'I will take my medications every morning when I have my first cup of tea'
The use of an alarm can be a great way to remind you to take your medications.
If you have a mobile phone, you can programme the alarm to go off everyday at the time you would like to take them.
Many patients like to buy their own pill box from a local pharmacy and pop out the medications into daily compartments.
If you're struggling to pop your pills out or use inhalers or eyedrops, please discuss with your local community pharmacist as they will be able to help.

MedTap doesn't share any personal information. Medicine, appointments, and test results recorded through the app are only available to you. If you delete the app, then any information you have recorded will also be deleted.
