Akerman Health Centre wins prestigious design award

The Akerman Health Centre in Brixton won the award for Best Primary Care Design at the 2013 Building Better Healthcare Awards.

The centre houses a range of services including Guy’s and St Thomas’ district nurses and health visitors. 

Leighann Li, Head of Customer and Facilities Management at the Akerman Health Centre, says: "We are very proud of the services we provide for our patients. An incredible amount of thought has gone into making it a pleasant and comfortable space. It has been designed with patients in mind."

The judges said: “This is a rational building which sits on the site very well and looks like it has always been there. We like the scale of it and the way the patient spaces have been skilfully designed.”
