Andrew's 45 miles walk to work

Tuesday 7 August 2012

Andrew Elton

One member of the Trust has been so inspired by the London 2012 Games that he chose to walk his 45 mile journey to work.

Andrew Elton, who works in patient appliances, walked the ‘epic’ journey as part of the Trust’s 2012 Challenge. The journey from Royston in Hertfordshire to Guy's Hospital at London Bridge took him 11 hours – travelling over night on Sunday and arriving at 8.30am on Monday (6 August), and he even had time for a break.

“I was very tired and sore after my epic walk, but very happy,” he said. He also raised nearly £500 for charity.

The 2012 Challenge is a competition where staff can come together to compete against each other in a range of challenges inspired by the themes of the London 2012 Games – including getting active and fundraising.

It’s not too late to sponsor Andrew.
