New films featuring the stories of people who have been helped to kick the smoking habit by Guy's and St Thomas' stop smoking service have been released.

More than 60% of people who get support from Guy’s and St Thomas’ give up smoking.

The three powerful films, which are each 60 seconds in length and feature a patient, a child and stop smoking specialist explaining the effects of smoking, are the brain-child of the Lambeth stop smoking team.

Issued in time for Stoptober, a national campaign encouraging smokers to quit, the films will be available on the Trust's website and used to promote the service on social media.

Judith Olaitan-Salami, a stop smoking advisor who is featured in one of the films, says: "People see a poster and think okay. But a film is a more human way of getting the message across. We want people to watch and think 'maybe I should give up for my child, my family and for me.' That's why we want smokers to sign up this Stoptober.

"We know that quitting smoking can be tough but we're here to help you keep going and quit for good."
