Heavenly voices and festive crafts bring joy to Evelina London Children’s Hospital

Children at Evelina London Children’s Hospital enjoyed beautiful music and wonderful craft activities, thanks to a special visit from the Lambeth Palace events team and St Martin’s Voices.

Children in hospital came down from their wards to make some Christmas decorations and take part in other crafts in the Evelina London Atrium, while listening to carols sung magnificently by 5 members of St Martin’s Voices.

During the event, the choir also paid a special visit to the hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit. This meant that children who were too unwell to leave their beds, their families and clinical teams could also hear the choir’s amazing voices and harmonies.

This special event was delivered in partnership with the hospital’s play team and the staff from the Evelina Hospital School.

Sue Pruden, play service manager said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the St Martin’s Voices and the Lambeth Palace events team for giving up their time to deliver such a fantastic event for our patients. Being in hospital at this time of year can be particularly difficult for children and young people, and events like this are so special and make a real difference.”

Louise Donovan, Director of Events and Engagement at Lambeth Palace said: “It was a privilege to return to Evelina London Children’s Hospital for our annual festive craft session and to see the joy that music and creativity can bring. Working alongside St Martin’s Voices, the hospital play team and school staff to create such a festive and uplifting experience for the children and their families was incredibly special, and we are delighted to be able to continue Lambeth Palace’s long-standing support of the hospital.”

Lambeth Palace has long supported Evelina London. In previous years they have hosted a 25th anniversary celebratory event for families who have received care through our South Thames Retrieval Service, invited children to decorate the Lambeth Palace Christmas tree, and held a special event where hospital patients built their own LEGO versions of the Lambeth Palace library.
