Guy’s and St Thomas’ has welcomed Louise Dark as the new Chief Executive of its Integrated and Specialist Medicine Clinical Group.

Louise joined the Trust from Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where she was Managing Director of King George Hospital, and the responsible executive for leading and managing the site, with a particular focus on the urgent and emergency care pathway. She was also the Trust’s Place Based lead for Redbridge.

Louise succeeds Sarah Austin who retired on 5 April after a 46 year career in the NHS.

A pharmacist by background, Louise has held a wide variety of leadership roles including Programme Director for elective transformation and recovery at NHS London, and Chief Pharmacist at both Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, where she was also Divisional Director of Operations for acute and emergency medicine and clinical support services.

Louise said:

I am excited to have joined Guy’s and St Thomas’. As a Southwark resident I know south east London very well, so it’s great to be working in the area. My goal is to build on the diverse skills and knowledge of our staff to ensure that patients get the best possible care.

I look forward to working with all of our partners across the region to support people to stay well for longer and meet the growing demands for our services.
