St Thomas'

Guy’s and St Thomas’ has been recognised for providing safe care, and going above and beyond for vulnerable patients with dementia.

We were recently short-listed for the Patient Safety Award and the Excellence in Dementia Care award in the CHKS Top Hospital awards.

The Patient Safety Award recognises outstanding performance in providing a safe hospital environment for patients and is based on a range of indicators, including rates of hospital-acquired infections and mortality.

Patricia Snell, Assistant Director for Clinical Governance, said: “Being short-listed for this prestigious award is evidence of the consistent hard work we’re put into achieving good clinical outcomes and low mortality rates.”

New for 2013, the Excellence in Dementia Care award identifies excellence in the delivery of care for patients with dementia.

“The Dementia and Delirium (DaD) team are driven to improve training for all staff across the organisation to raise awareness of dementia,” added Patricia. “They have also changed a number of policies and procedures to ensure that our most vulnerable patients are getting the care they need.”

The results will be announced on 30 April.
