Trust appoints Director of Workforce and Organisational Development

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce that Julie Screaton has been appointed as Director of Workforce and Organisational Development.

She will succeed Ann Macintyre, who is leaving her current role after 40 years of NHS service at a local, regional and national level.

Julie has wide ranging experience of leading workforce and organisational development teams in the NHS, having worked extensively at a regional, and also a Trust level, in roles spanning operational and strategic responsibilities.

In her current position, as Regional Director, London and the South East for Health Education England, Julie is responsible for £1.4 billion of investment in education, training and workforce development across London, Kent Surrey and Sussex. Her role includes providing support to eight Sustainability and Transformation Plans within this geographical area.

Julie says: "I am delighted to be joining Guy's and St Thomas' and very much looking forward to returning to the NHS frontline after working at a regional level for many years. Recruiting and retaining a sustainable workforce is one of the key challenges facing the NHS today, and will be fundamental to meet rising demand for ever more complex care.

"The workforce of the future will require many new skills, and will need to be resilient and ready to adopt new roles as we all embrace new technology and respond to the drive for greater collaboration across traditional professional and organisational boundaries. This is a genuinely exciting time to joining the Trust."

Julie will take up her appointment in June.
