Nigel Beckett

Biography
Nigel Beckett is a consultant physician in geriatric and general internal medicine. His interests focus around the acute care of older patients and has research interests in cardiovascular disease in older adults.
He co-ordinated the landmark Hypertension in the Very Elderly (HYVET) and has published widely within the field of hypertension in older adults. He was elected a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2010 for his contribution to hypertension research. He is the co-lead for the South London Local Clinical Research Network for ageing.
His clinical work involves leading and working on the Acute Older Person’s (frailty) Unit, as well as care of general medical inpatients, patients undergoing rehabilitation at the Pulross Care Centre in Lambeth and running a comprehensive geriatric medicine clinic.
