Overview
Acute oncology
We provide assessment and advice for cancer patients who have severe symptoms or start feeling unwell.
We work with your cancer team to make sure you can get the right support when you need it.
Our experienced team includes consultant oncologicsts and haematologists, advanced nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists (CNS).
We provide telephone support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A specially trained operator will answer your call. They'll take details of your symptoms and contact a clinical nurse specialist to call you back.
Our clinical team can provide advice on managing symptoms. They may invite you for a face-to-face assessment at our Cancer Centre.
We're not a walk-in or emergency service.
We work as part of the South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) acute oncology service group and Guy's Cancer Academy.
