Jonathan Glass
Consultant urological surgeon
Biography
Jonathan Glass was appointed to Guy's Hospital in 1999 and is now the senior consultant in the stone unit.
He receives referrals for complex stone surgery from numerous centres throughout England. He also operates on kidney stones in children, working with the children's urology team. A joint children's stone clinic is held once a month, and an operating list for children with stones twice a month.
He has taught kidney stone surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England Basic and Advanced surgery courses, and at the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) annual meetings. He has been secretary, vice chair and chair of the section of endo-urology of BAUS, holding the position of chair from September 2017 to November 2019. In July 2019 he took up his position as the representative of the British Association of Urological Surgeons on the council of The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
As well as being the urological editor for the 39th and 40th edition of Gray's Anatomy, Jonathan has been training programme director for urological trainees in south Thames and has been a member of the Surgical Advisory Committee for Urology at the Royal College of Surgeons.
Jonathan continues to see patients with general urology problems including benign prostate disease.
Jonathan has published over 40 papers on various aspects of urology and has written a number of blogs and opinion pieces for the British Medical Journal and British Journal of Urology International.
Education and training
- Completed urological training in West London hospitals including St Mary's, Charing Cross and the Hammersmith.

- Renal tract stone disease, having operated on over 1,000 cases since being appointed. This includes over 600 percutaneous nephrolithotomies
