COVID-19 medicines delivery unit (CMDU)

The south east London COVID-19 medicines delivery unit (CMDU) provides COVID-19 treatments to people in south east London who are at the highest risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19.

From 13 June 2024, the following patients with COVID-19 may also be eligible to receive treatment:

  • people aged 85 years and over
  • people with end-stage heart failure who have a long-term ventricular assistance device
  • people on the organ transplant waiting list
  • people aged 70 years and over, or who have a BMI of 35 kg/m2 or more, diabetes or heart failure, and:
    • are resident in a care home, or
    • are already hospitalised

How to get treatment

Acceptance criteria

Treatment must be given within 7 days of symptoms starting if you:

  • test positive for COVID-19; and
  • are at high risk, such as, immunosuppressed, or have certain conditions. Please visit the NHS website for more details around eligibility criteria

If you have symptoms of COVID-19:

  • test as soon as possible. Free lateral flow tests may be available. Please visit the NHS website for more information on free testing
  • if you have tested positive and are eligible for treatment, please seek it immediately

How to access treatment:

1. Referral by a health professional

Your GP or hospital specialist should refer you to the CMDU. If you have not been referred but believe you should be, please contact:

  • your GP/hospital specialist
  • NHS 111

2. Self-referral

If you cannot get a referrals through the above pathways, please complete the self-referral form.

Our team will then review your details and contact you by telephone to discuss your case further.

You will only be eligible for treatment if you meet our criteria.
