COVID-19 medicines delivery unit (CMDU)

The COVID-19 medicines delivery unit (CMDU) provides COVID-19 treatments to people in south east London who are at the highest risk from, or have tested positive for, COVID-19.

Information on the treatment and eligibility criteria can be found on the NHS England treatments for COVID-19 page.

From 13 June 2024, the following patients with COVID-19 may also be eligible to receive treatment:

  • people aged 85 years and over
  • people with end-stage heart failure who have a long-term ventricular assistance device
  • people on the organ transplant waiting list
  • people aged 70 years and over, or who have a BMI of 35 kg/m2 or more, diabetes or heart failure, and:
    • are resident in a care home, or
    • are already hospitalised

How to get treatment

If you're at the highest risk of getting seriously ill with COVID-19 your GP or hospital specialist should refer you to the CMDU.

If you have not been referred and believe you should be, please contact NHS 111, your GP or hospital specialist (if you have one) to refer you if:

  • you have tested positive for COVID-19
  • your COVID-19 symptoms started no more than 7 days ago. If you are unsure whether you fall within this time frame our clinical team can help advise you

If you are unable to get in contact with your GP or unable to get NHS 111 to make a referral for you, please contact us.
