Reviewing your wound
Monitoring your surgical wound
After you leave hospital you'll be referred to us for remote wound monitoring.
Your surgical team will refer you.
This is not an emergency service.
How we contact you
You will receive weekly requests from us. This will be a secure link sent by SMS text message or email. The text message or email will come from Guy's and St Thomas' (GSTT). The provider of the service is Isla Health.
To access the system, you will need to give consent and your year of birth.
You can change your mind at any time by withdrawing consent or by emailing us.
Email: centralwoundhub@gstt.nhs.uk
We'll ask you to send photos of your wound and updates on how it is healing.
What happens next
Our team of nurses will review your photos. If we need more information, you may receive a phone call from us or we may send more forms by text message or email.
You'll normally get a response within 24 hours, often within 1 hour.
We usually check your wound every week for 30 days after surgery, or until it has healed and we discharge you from the service. Please send us information even if your wound is healing well. This helps us pick up any concerns that might otherwise get missed.
You may be asked to attend a clinic at one of our hospitals. This can sometimes take a few days to arrange. For more serious concerns we will help organise your return to stay in hospital.
If we think your wound needs more urgent attention, we may tell you to go to your nearest emergency department (A&E) or urgent care centre.
Some wound issues are best managed in the community. This may involve your GP, practice nurse, district nurses, or a community midwife. Our team will work with your surgical team to make sure you see the appropriate health professional.
