Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) cancer and brain tumour service

Our Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) cancer and brain tumour service for south east London offers extra support to anyone aged 16 to 24 when diagnosed with cancer or brain tumours.

This support is in addition to the treatment you receive from experts in your particular type of cancer.

We understand how cancer at this age can impact your education, employment and personal development.

You may be seen by:

  • consultant doctors
  • specialist nurse
  • dietitian
  • psychologist
  • social workers
  • youth support coordinator

We work with your consultant and specialist medical teams to provide psychological and social support.

Our new purpose built ward at the Cancer Centre at Guy's is due to open in the autumn of 2024. It's designed for the highest standards of care and to be a space where everyone supports each other.

Our support service is available to young adults having their medical treatment at all hospitals in south east London and east Kent.

Our local partner hospitals include:

  • King's College Hospital
  • Lewisham Hospital
  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich
  • Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup
  • Princess Royal University Hospital, Bromley
