Parking at St Thomas' Hospital

St Thomas' car park improvement work

Resurfacing work will be taking place from Monday 24 March to Monday 31 March 2025.

This work is to improve access for pedestrians, wheelchairs, and vehicles.

The car park will remain open. But, there will be fewer spaces available, and may get very busy.

A traffic light system and marshals will be in place to help minimise disruption.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Important

St Thomas' Hospital is located in the Congestion Charging zone and the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Visit the Transport for London website for information about how to pay these and who qualifies for refunds or discounts.

Parking at St Thomas' Hospital is limited and there is often a queue for the car park.

Our car park is open 24 hours a day and costs £3.50 per hour, even if you are parked for less time.

How to pay

Please pay at one of our payment machines before returning to your car. Enter your vehicle registration into the machine and it will tell you how much you need to pay.

We have 5 payment machines:

  • 2 machines at the car park, along the walkway between Lambeth and North Wing wall
  • 1 machine (card only) inside North Wing lower ground floor entrance
  • 1 machine (card only) inside Lambeth Wing lower ground floor entrance
  • 1 machine (card only) at main reception ground floor North Wing

You can pay by cash, or by credit or debit card. If you pay by cash, please use the correct change.

There's a motorcycle parking area in the main car park.

Parking for blue badge holders

If you're registered as disabled and a holder of a valid blue badge for parking, you can use the Trusts disabled parking spaces in the car park.

For free parking you will have to show you have an appointment on that day. The holder of the badge must be in the vehicle and attending for an appointment.

Please leave the clock part of your badge on display on the vehicle's dashboard with the time you arrived.

To claim free parking, take your blue badge (part with your photo) and appointment letter, card or text to:

  • the Knowledge and Information Centre (KiC), ground floor, North Wing

The KiC is open from 8am to 4pm. Outside of these hours, please go to the security desk at the main reception.

If you have regular scheduled appointments, we can register you on the system for 3 months. We will do this on your first visit and will only need to do this once. We can only do this for you at the KiC.

For 3 months you will be able to park and leave after your appointment. You will not have to visit the KiC. Please remember to display your blue badge.

Drop off and collection points

There are signposted drop-off and collection points for patients.

These are inside the car park. You are allowed up to 20 minutes free parking within the barriers. If you are more than 20 minutes you will have to pay.

There's also a security team at main reception who can provide help.
