Eye day case unit (EDCU)

EDCU is on the 8th floor, North Wing, St Thomas' Hospital. It is open 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturday. On Saturday morning, the unit is opened to care for post-op patients. We care for patients who are coming to have eye surgery under either local or general anaesthetic as a day case. We also treat patients who are admitted as day cases under the care of the Medical Eye Unit.

Patients admitted to the EDCU undergo retinal surgeries, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, laser procedure, lid surgery, corneal graft, squint, intra-vitreol steroid injection and lumbar puncture.
