High standards of care

At Guy’s Cancer, we pride ourselves on high quality care.

We work with a range of national and international organisations to regulate and accredit our care, ensuring that we deliver services of the highest possible quality.

National regulation and accreditation

All of our specialist services are licensed and approved by the regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies below.

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC regulates our services, as the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. It checks all hospitals in England to make sure they're meeting national standards in all aspects of care, including:

  • treating people with dignity and respect
  • making sure food and drink meets people’s needs
  • making sure that that the environment is clean and safe
  • managing and staffing services.

Human Tissue Authority

Our cancer tissue banks are approved and licensed by the Human Tissue Authority.

International Standards Organisation

Our radiotherapy service is ISO 9001 accredited.

Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

The Integrated Cancer Centre can manufacture investigative medicinal products. In addition to offering standard chemotherapy, we have a specialist containment area for handling therapeutic viruses for clinical trials. This activity is regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

International accreditations and memberships

As part of the King's Health Partners Integrated Cancer Centre, we work to provide internationally outstanding health care, research and education.

We are members of the following international organisations.

Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI)

The Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) is a European network of cancer institutes aiming to improve quality in cancer care and translational research in Europe. The Integrated Cancer Centre is a member.

European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC)

European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) is an international, non-profit organisation that stimulates and coordinates laboratory and clinical cancer research in Europe. Its mission is to help turn experimental evidence into state-of-the-art therapies. King's Health Partners is a designated centre for the organisation and is part of its 'network of core institutions'.
