Ambulatory oxygen service

Providing assessments for ambulatory oxygen

Coronavirus: physiotherapy update

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, please read our advice and information before attending the service.

The ambulatory oxygen service at Guy's and St Thomas' has developed over the past 12 years to become a specialist service for south east London. We provide assessments for ambulatory oxygen, for the residents of Lambeth and Southwark. We also help patients from further afield who are having difficulty accessing oxygen services or require more detailed assessment than can be provided locally.

We provide initial assessments, trial patients on oxygen devices and give prescriptions for oxygen where appropriate. We will then follow-up periodically to ensure the oxygen is being used correctly and the oxygen device and flow rate/setting still meets their needs.

The ambulatory oxygen clinic, held at St Thomas’ Hospital, and the long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) clinic at Guy’s Hospital, are both run by the Guy's and St Thomas' home oxygen service. These clinics are also linked with the home oxygen clinic at King’s College Hospital.
